... This poem is an example of how our perceptions may differ compared to someone else's perspective on a certain object, person or in this case poem. The media source that I have chosen is able to clearly identify the second part of my tapestry theme through the use of the palindrome poem. A palindrome poem is a series of words, phrases, verses, or sentences that have two different meanings when read frontwards to backwards. This relates to my theme about perception because just like the poem, each person experiences life in a different way. The first way of the poem describes how racism can be viewed with a negative spin by stating how society should become a world of "division, violence and lawlessness". However the perception of the poem changes when one reads the poem backwards and sees that it describes racism positively by stating, "laundry should be the only thing separated by color." This is similar to the art piece because it also shows how the picture can be seen differently to different individuals depending on how you look at it....
